2016 is the first year of production for the Silver Kangaroo Silver Bullion coin. Each coin contains one troy ounce of .9999 pure silver, and features security measures to prevent counterfeiting.
Like the Gold Kangaroo, the reverse of this silver round features the famous kangaroo, the largest marsupial in Australia, as designed by Dr. Stuart Devlin. On this round, the kangaroo is featured before a background of radiating lines, bounding to the left. There is also a laser engraved “A” in the first A of Australia on the reverse. The engraved a can only be seen with under magnification. “KANGAROO,” “2016” and “1 oz 9999 SILVER” are also inscribed.
Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse of each coin. “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” and “1 DOLLAR” are inscribed around the rim.
The 2016 1 oz Australian Silver Kangaroos are ideal for any collection or investment portfolio. The Perth Mint employs strict production quality standards, and, like the Royal Canadian Mint, produces silver coins that consist of .9999 fine silver. Many other Sovereign Mints produce silver bullion that consists of .999 fine silver, such as the Mexican Silver Libertad.
